WHAT IS 3D PRINTING?
3D printing technology, also called additive manufacturing, is based on the extrusion of a material, which is deposited layer by layer, to create a three-dimensional object.
Applied to construction, it allows to build the walls and part of the furniture in an integrated way.

TYPES OF PRINTERS
There are different types of 3D printers.
The most used is the "Gantry" type, formed by a porticoed structure and a print head that moves in the X, Y, Z axes.
An entire housing can be made as long as it fits under the printer arch.
There is another type of printer formed by a robotic arm that incorporates the print head.
They allow to manufacture more complex and precise geometries thanks to the 6 degrees of freedom of the arm. However the printable area is smaller than in “Gantry” type printers.
They are generally used to buid semi-prefabricated modules that can be assembled on site.

SPECIALIZED DESIGN
Starting from a three-dimensional computer model of a building, the walls and other elements that will be 3D printed are specially re-designed to ensure adequate structural and comfort properties.
The 3D model is converted to a file known as GCODE. This file contains the list of instructions that the printer will interpret to build the house.
